This year akshaya tritiya falls on 28th April 2017.

On this day Moon enters Taurus which is its sign of exaltation,while the Sun is already exalted in Aries. That is both life giving planets are in the most benefic planetary position making it very special for finances, business success, attracting abundance, prosperity and eliminating losses.

This is the most Auspicious day to pray and seek blessings of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. People perform puja in the morning to create positive vibrations in your environment, move ahead in life and eliminate negative thoughts about finances.

Vishnu-Lakshmi Pooja On Akshaya Tritiya

Lord Vishnu is associated with Akshaya Tritiya in most regions , and it is believed that Lord Vishnu fulfills his devotees desires on this holy day. Also, Devi Mahalakshmi is Lord Vishnu's consort and is said to bestow her devotees with unbound prosperity and wealth when prayed to on Akshaya Tritiya. Even Lord Kubera is said to pray to Devi Mahalakshmi on the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya. The following is a very simple pooja that can be performed to get the blessings of Lord Vishnu and Devi Mahalakshmi.

Water

Light a lamp in front of a photo or idol of Lord Vishnu and Devi Mahalakshmi, and place the lamp on a plate. Then, take a glass of water and put 5 Tulsi (ocimum sanctum) leaves in the water. Now, cover the mouth of the glass with the palm of your right hand. Keep your left hand on top of your right hand, and chant the following mantras –

ॐ नमो वासुदेवाय नमः
om namo vasudevaya namah

ॐ नमो विष्णुदेवाय नमः

om namo vishnudevaya namah 

ॐ श्री श्री लक्ष्मीदेवीये नमः

om shree shree lakshmi deviye namah 

 Now slowly pour little water from the glass into the small bowl in front of the lamp while chanting the mantra. 

ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय।

Om namo bhagwate vasudevay

Now take a handful of rice and place it in a bowl. Now take few grains of rice with the ring finger and thumb of your right hand and continue offering the rice by putting  the rice offer . Then chant the following mantra :

ॐ श्री लक्ष्मीसमेता नारायणा नमः 
om shree lakshmisametha narayana namah

 Then shower the base of the lamp with the rice in your right hand. Repeat this ritual until all the rice in the bowl is over. After that, shower the photo of Lord Vishnu and Devi Mahalakshmi with flowers while chanting :

ॐ नमो नारायणा

om namo narayanaya

 Then light some camphor and pray sincerely to God that this Akshaya Tritiya should bring your family happiness and success. Then take the rice from the plate below the lamp, and cook it. This cooked rice should be distributed as prasad among the family members.

 शान्ताकारं भुजगशयनं पद्मनाभं सुरेशं 

 विश्वाधारं गगनसदृशं मेघवर्ण शुभाङ्गम् ।

 लक्ष्मीकान्तं कमलनयनं योगिभिर्ध्यानगम्यम्

 वन्दे विष्णुं भवभयहरं सर्वलोकैकनाथम् ॥

Shantakaram Bhujaga Shayanam Padmanabham Suresham

Vishvadharam Gagana Sadrusham Megha Varnam Shubhangam

Lakshmi Kantam Kamala Nayanam Yogibhir Dhyana Gamyam

Vande Vishnum Bhava Bhaya Haram Sarva Lokaia Kanatham.
